The stars are callin'
Callin' me to pursue my dreams
They don't hear my desires
They don't care what I leave behind
So if I must leave this place
There's one thing I must say:
I love you, please come with me.
I'll be there waitin'
Somewhere off in the world alone
And when the stars call,
I'll look up one day and see you,
running, smiling at me,
closing the distance,
Stars will collide.
I'll hold you in my arms
Till then I'll wait for you like a
flower waits to bloom
I'll keep my heart for you,
if you'll come to me
Leave your overwhelming life behind
and we'll find
a new peace somewhere.
I'll wait for you
as long as it takes
Don't keep me waitin' forever
Please come to me

Along the Mississippi my roots grew deep
Out over the Rockies I spread my wings
But I am no epiphyte
This tree needs solid ground
Oh bring me to myself again, sweet river.
Oh, sweet river,
flowing through the days of my youth
Oh, sweet river,
Help me find my way back to my truth
Cause when I stay away too long, I lose myself
Boulders grow inside my heart and grind fine sand
But sand won't flow through my veins
This heart needs room to beat
Oh wash my spirit clean again, sweet river.
Oh, sweet river,
flowing 'neath the stars of my youth
Oh, sweet river,
Help me find my way back to my truth
Oh may my roots stretch back in time, back to my birth
And may these branches bloom ahead into the dawn
Cause I am a tree of hope,
of water wind and soul
I carry you within me now sweet river.
Oh, sweet river,
Flowing back in time to my youth
Oh, sweet river,
Home is deep inside me, that's the truth
I've finally found my way back to my truth.

I may be living in your shadow,
but I'm not gonna wait to bloom.
I'm gonna take what I need
from the rich black soil.
There's plenty to go around --
we're living on generous ground.
You're so tall and majestic,
and everybody sees you from afar.
I may be small
and my beauty is subtle,
but I delight in bright'ning the shade.
I embrace the way I was made.
'Cause I know everything we have is borrowed
and returning to the earth again soon.
So I'm gonna bloom where I'm planted,
bloom just as long as I can,
and when it's time
to return to the soil,
I'll enrich it with the joy that I bring,
joy to nourish every living thing.
